Welcome!!!

Hey Everybody,

Welcome to Nikki's Style!!! I'm starting this blog because I love fashion and style. Over the last couple of years I have begun to come into my own with my style. So I just want to share what I know and learned with others. I have seen many fashion victims and I too use to be one. But I am here to fix that. To me fashion is not about following the trends or the latest styles, it's about having your own creativity and being original. Being a trend setter... So if you want to know about great stores and get good advice from the not so average girl, this blog is for you. Be sure to submit your email so you can have the latest updates. Hope you enjoy!

The Do's and The Don'ts

The Do's and Don'ts are important guidelines to set for yourself when creating your own style.  I thought I would share some of mine with you....
The Don'ts

Buying items just because they have them in your size
Sometimes people fall victim to the fashion police because they buy items that are not flattering to their shapes (this goes for any size small or big).  Just because it is in your size does not mean that it goes with your body type.  Ladies we have to be honest with ourselves and really look in the mirror and say "Does this item look good on me?"  AND we also should be honest with our home girls. If they have on an outfit that is not flattering tell them the truth and be honest.  Real friends don’t let friends become fashion victims.
Getting a item because you like it but its not flattering to you
Its important that you know what goes with your personailty and shape.  A woman came into the store where I work the other day and returned some clothing.  One item was a vest that had fur and lepord print all over. Its one of those items that you have to an aquired taste for. She tried it on for me and it was not flattering to her.  She said she looked like a cheetah in the wild, and I had to agree.  But another women tried on the same vest and it looked great on her.  I say all of this to say, know what looks good on you and know what doesn't.  When I buy and wear items I try to get things that go with my personality and shape.  Buy items that are you not whats popular.
The Do's
Getting your clothes tailored to fit your shape and size
I know that the fashion industry doesn’t leave many options for curvy and plus size women.  Especially when it comes to pants and jeans.  But a good way to make sure that your clothes fit right is to get them tailored to fit you. This way the clothes are not wearing you, your wearing the clothes. Many dry cleaners and places that make dresses will tailor clothes and it is inexpensive.
Being honest with yourself about what size you wear
Ladies it is important that we stay honest with ourselves about what size we really wear.  To many times I see women walking around with the muffin top because your pants are too small.  I too use to be a victim of this type of fashion.  If you are a size 8 don’t get a 4, if you’re a size 16 don’t get a 12.  Being in denial about gaining some weight or what size you wear is not hot.  Ladies the muffin top is not sexy.  We look so much better when we wear the right size clothing and it makes you look slimmer too.  Embrace your beauty and true size!
